Vlad Răceu was born on February 27th 1987 in Satu Mare, Romania, into a family of musicians, both parents being professional violin players. He began his studies at the age of 6 with his father, the Concertmaster in Vlad`s hometown Philharmonic.
From the age of nine, he has won over 20 prizes in National Competitions for young musicians.
made his debut as a soloist with the Satu Mare State Philharmonic at a very early age, performing, throughout his career along with famous Romanian and foreign conductors, such as: Cristian Mandeal, Christian Badea, Emil Simon, Petre Sbârcea, Gheorghe Costin, Gabriel Bebeşelea, Mihail Agafiţa, Laurence Foster and Daniel Cohen.
His oustanding musical capabilities were also confirmed by his teachers from the masterclasses attended: Gabriel Croitoru (soloist & teacher at Bucharest National Music University), Nicusor Silaghi (second violin in “The Transylvanian Quartet” & teacher at “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy), Sherban Lupu (soloist & teacher at University of Illinois), Silvia Marcovici (soloist & teacher at University of Music & Performing Arts of Graz), Ernst Kovacic (soloist & University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna), Liviu Prunaru (soloist & Concertmaster at “The Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam”), David Grimal (soloist & founder of “Les Dissonances” Orchestra) and Florin Paul (soloist & Concertmaster at “NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester”).
graduated from “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca in 2010 earning a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, later on obtaining a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance.
In the year 2007, won the 1st Prize at “Stefan Ruha” International Competition and 1st Prize & Grand Prix at “Remember Enescu” competition, boosting his career to an international level.
Currently, is University Assistant Ph.D. at “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, member of the “Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra” and performs as a soloist all over Europe.
